You won't be able to see this until the Fall Look Book launches may I add, I love, love, love the smell of it... - it is not a "too sweet" vanilla scent, it is just plain yummy! It is a limited edition item and I speculate that it will sell out as the miniature fragrance collection and the pedicure set did.

Mary Kay is a brand that I've known about for years but in all honesty, it isn't one that I've paid much attention to since I've been makeup obsessed. Maybe it's because I associated it with makeup that my grandmother, my mom and aunts used in the '80s (remember the pink packaging?!) But ladies, I urge you to take a closer look at Mary Kay. It's not grandma's makeup at all.
I've been reintroduced to Mary Kay via its newly launched Liquid Lip Colors. Luschious is the word I would use to describe how this makes your lips look.

Available in six colours, the Liquid Lip Colors combine the coverage and finish of a lipstick with the convenient application of a gloss. It reminds of my beloved Beaute Cosmetics Weightless Lip Cremes and the Chanel Rouge Lacques.  Do I dare say that I might even like these better?

I adore the consistency of these lip products; they are very smooth and easy to apply. These are not thick or sticky, always a bonus. They also have a minty flavour -- yummy in my opinion. When I wore these, my lips felt moisturized and after a full day of wear, I didn't feel dry or chapped at all.

(Left to right: Royal Plum, Chocoholic, Malted, Sherbet, Raspberry Ice, Cherry Coffee)

The Liquid Lip Color is packaged like a lipgloss though the tube it is shorter and stubbier. It comes with an applicator like a gloss. The best way to apply is to use the angled tip of the applicator to define the lip line and the corner of the lips. Then use the flat side of the applicator to fill in the center and voila, you are ready to go. The color is completely buildable so you can apply as sheer or as dark as you want. I like it 'medium.'

(Left to right/Top to Bottom: Sherbet; Raspberry Kiss; Royal Plum, Malted; Chocoholic; Cherry Coffee -- colours are a bit brighter than they appear here)

My favorite colours are Cherry Coffee (for a sophisticated red lip); Sherbet (a bright coral); and Raspberry Ice (my lips but better colour). I found that with my pigmented lips, I did have to apply a couple of layers of Sherbet and Malted to mute out my natural lip colour. It was easy to get the coverage I wanted and it didn't budge after application. No slip sliding away here. Malted is definitely one colour you nude lip fans should look at, and if you like more dramatic lips, check out Royal Plum and Chocoholic.

These are priced at $13 each and available at My MaryKay Website or your Mary Kay consultant.

Have you tried liquid lip colours? Yes or No?

Tips and Trends

Eyes
  • The eye color trend of the moment is shades of blues and greens that truly transport you to your favorite warm-weather locale. Get the look by using Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color, $6.50 each, in new shades Azure or Emerald.
  • Tired eyes can ruin even the most extraordinary makeup applications. To fix the problem, use an eye treatment that dimishes dark circles and depuffs before applying makeup. Mary Kay® solution: TimeWise® Targeted-Action® Eye Revitalizer, $35.
  • Don't be afraid of color extremes! In fact, extreme skin tones – whether really fair or really dark – can usually take the most color.
Face
  • A healthy glow is a "must" this summer. Mary Kay® Mineral Bronzing Powder, $12, in shimmer shades add natural highlights to the complexion, while matte shades add warmth. But why stop the bronzing process at your jawline? For a look that shimmers below the neck, apply mineral bronzing powder to your shoulders as an accent.
  • Picking the right foundation isn't hard with the right tricks! To match your skin tone with ultimate precision, apply three different swatches of color to your jawline and choose the hue that blends perfectly with your skin tone.
  • Get inspired by the colors, foods and atmosphere around you when choosing the right shade this season. Nothing says summer like a punchy coral, such as new Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color in Citrus Bloom, $10.
  • For touch-ups on the go, always keep your Mary Kay® Beauty Blotters® Oil-Absorbing Tissues, $5, in your purse. These beauty must-haves will help maintain an oil-free complexion, especially on those hot summer days.
